Half of Adults Infected in Latest COVID-19 Outbreak Were Fully Vaccinated: Israeli Official

About 90 percent of new COVID-19 infections in Israel were caused by the CCP virus’s Delta variant, officials said, while adding that about half of the adults infected in the recent outbreak were fully vaccinated.

Ran Balicer, who leads an expert advisory panel for the Israeli government, in announcing the finding on Friday, said that the country might end up implementing another lockdown after opening up earlier this year, according to the Wall Street Journal. The fully vaccinated individuals were inoculated with the Pfizer COVID-19 shot commonly used in Israel.

“The entrance of the delta variant has changed the transition dynamics,” he noted, referring to the B.1.617.2 strain of COVID-19 that has now been detected in more than 70 countries. COVID-19 is the illness caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, otherwise known as the novel coronavirus.

New cases of the virus rose to more than 200 on Thursday, from around 10 per day in most of June, officials said.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said on Wednesday that it will add a warning of heart inflammation to the fact sheet for the Pfizer and Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccines that are given to patients prior to vaccination.

At a meeting of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), Dr. Doran Fink, deputy director of the FDA’s vaccines division told the committee that the FDA will “move rapidly to update the fact sheets” to ensure transparency surrounding identified risks, no matter how rare.

“We do agree that, based on the available data, a warning statement in the fact sheets for both healthcare providers and vaccine recipients and caregivers would be warranted in this situation,” Fink said.

Fink added that the warning statements “would likely include information stating that these events have occurred in some vaccine recipients, particularly following dose two of mRNA vaccines, that the onset of symptoms typically have been several days to a week following vaccination.” Symptoms include chest pain and shortness of breath.

ACIP met to discuss the latest data on myocarditis and pericarditis incidents following mRNA vaccination in adolescents and younger adults under 29, particularly after a second dose. The majority of inflammation cases have also been reported in male patien

 esta tudo com medo da variante delta mas eu estou curiosa a observar a reação das pessoas ( incluindo politicos). Temos todos de conviver com esta bodega no futuro e a vacinação está ai em força e mesmo que os infectados aumentem muito o que deveria determinar o panico e preocupação deveria ser a sustentabilidade do SNS. acho que a vacinação dos mais velhos está a dar frutos. Internamento é de pessoas mais jovens sobretudo nao vacinadas pelo que as mortes deverão ser infimas. é investir forte e feio na vacinação e aumentar tesagem.
